Re-release of Riverkeeper IPA and Announcement of the RIVERKEEPER RIVERWALK

Spokane, Washington – Stretching 111 miles from Lake Coeur d’Alene to the Columbia River, the Spokane River is a centerpiece of our region.  It has been and always should be a critical resource and recreational opportunity for our entire region.  Working every day to protect that resource for us is the sole mission of the Spokane Riverkeeper.  To honor that work, and to promote awareness of and the fundraising efforts for this important organization, Numerica Credit Union and River City Brewing have again teamed up to shine a light on the Spokane Riverkeeper.

River City Brewing, Numerica and Spokane Riverkeeper are pleased to announce the re-release of the Riverkeeper IPA, River City’s premiere IPA, and announce the first annual RIVERKEEPER RIVERWALK.  Featuring eight bars and restaurants near the Spokane River, we invite you to “Wreck Your Liver to Save the River” in order to collect a commemorative pint glass, trigger a donation to the Spokane Riverkeeper from Numerica and have a chance to win your own river adventure by rafting or floating the Spokane River with ROW Adventures.

IPAs, or India Pale Ales, are the leading style of craft beer sold in America, so River City Brewing is proud to be able to promote and support Spokane Riverkeeper with the Riverkeeper IPA.  Updated this year with eight hop varieties, this beer is a classic West coast style IPA with lots of citrusy aroma and crisp hop flavor.  Riverkeeper IPA will be served for the very first time this year at Numerica Credit Union’s downtown branch on Friday, March 4th from 5:30pm to 8pm, with local photographer Charley Gurche on site displaying his beautiful photos of the Spokane River.

Also, starting that day, an insert in every issue of the Inlander (also available at the Launch Party and participating restaurants) will provide a RIVERWALK guide to the eight participating restaurants for this month-long celebration of the Spokane River.  If patrons make a stop in 4 or more of the participating restaurants, they can redeem their RIVERWALK guide for a free commemorative pint glass and Numerica will make a $5 donation on their behalf, or, if they visit 7 or 8 of the participating restaurants, they will get the pint glass, the donation made by Numerica and their name will be entered in a grand prize drawing for a ROW Adventure float or rafting trip.

“Numerica is proud to support Riverkeeper IPA again this year, and we’re particularly excited about the new Riverwalk event,” said Kelli Hawkins Numerica’s Communications Manager. “We want to encourage support of Spokane Riverkeeper through the Riverwalk event and think making a donation to support a cleaner, healthier river is a great way to do so! Not only are participants able to enjoy a great, locally-brewed IPA, they’re also earning a donation in their name for the Spokane Riverkeeper, which we love,” added Hawkins.

Following RIVERKEEPER RIVERWALK, the Riverkeeper IPA will continue to be available year-round and River City Brewing makes year-long donations to the Spokane Riverkeeper supported by the sales of this beer.  “We are very proud of this beer and proud of our partnership with the Spokane Riverkeeper,” states Gage Stromberg, an owner at River City Brewing, “The whole brewery looks forward to the annual re-release of this beer because we love hops, love IPAs and love the Spokane River.”

“The Riverkeeper is all about engaging the public in the protection of the Spokane River.  When businesses like Numerica and River City Brewing partners with us in that work, it creates huge benefits for the entire community” says our Spokane Riverkeeper, Jerry White.

Spokane Riverkeeper, Numerica Credit Union and River City Brewing would also like to thank the participating restaurants – Veraci Pizza, Nectar Wine and Beer in Kendall Yards, David’s Pizza, The Blackbird, Ripples Riverside Grill at the Red Lion on the River, O’Doherty’s Irish Grille, and Rock City Grill– and our distribution partner, KBI Craft, our graphics partner, Design Queue, and collaterals partner, Ammonite Ink, and our media partner, DH.  Look for information about a Pub Crawl featuring all of our partners on Tuesday, March 1st.
