On another day we will lament the loss of our current head brewer, Cody Ragan. Cody has had a long-standing interest in law enforcement and will be leaving us to go to work for the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office. I am very sorry to lose him, but the reality of a small brewery is that we can't offer the same comp & benefits that they can. Now, personally, I like the idea of making/drinking beer more than the idea of being shot at, but clearly Cody and I don't see eye-to-eye on that particular issue.
So, while I am sorry to be losing Cody, I was very gratified to see the list of candidates that applied for a brewery position with us. We had 31 candidates apply and almost every one was a committed home-brewer or beer aficionado that had a heart-felt interest in making a living in this industry. We did have a handful with commercial brewing experience and/or deep industry backgrounds, so they obviously have a leg-up in the process, but all in all, it's just nice to have heard from a bunch of people who feel the same way about making and enjoying beer in the way that we do.
More news later on the outcome of this process, but thanks for the interest in the spot and the conversations we have started about beer.
